I’ll Try Anything Once — Julian Casablancas and Nick Valensi
The trailer for Sofia Coppola’s new movie, Somewhere. I love the song choice…I think it’s an early version/demo of You Only Live Once with just Julian Casablancas on vocals and Nick Valensi on keyboard.
Julian Casablancas—Dancin’ In The Dark (Bruce Springsteen live cover)
oh hey
It’s not the whole song, but I love it.

Well, I do…somewhat.

Oh it’s enough. I just need to get it out of my system. :)
How do you like his solo album? For me, it’s not as good as Little Joy, but I liked it a lot.

Re-blog away! Though I don’t think I posted that many to begin with. And thanks for the compliment :)
#15 Julian Casablancas—11th Dimension
Frankly I couldn’t give a fuck whether or not people thought that Phrazes For The Young was a shitty album and that Casablancas is better left with his friends at The Strokes. You know what? It took some balls for him to take the reins of a solo career and take a musical path that I don’t think many really expected. And this is not a platform for arguing whether or not it worked (I think it did). Regardless of anything Casablancas put out one of the best singles/songs/tracks or the year. It is catchy. It is groovy. It is sticky and sweet with all the electronic devices at work creating the tunes. And, most importantly, it is great. Whether everything else on the album is a success matters not. Whether I am biased towards Casablancas because he is in The Strokes Brain Trust matters not either. I will fight you because this is one of the best songs of the year.
This will be stuck in my head now (not a complaint).
I kind of love him…maybe a little.
